Wolvercote Community Orchard, just along from Trout pub car park (map)
Apples to taster and buy, Apple juice, Apple games, cakes, preserves, honey from the orchard bees, music, conker championship – come and enjoy an apply afternoon.
Oxford’s streetband, the Horns of Plenty, will be playing around 2.30 and again later on.
Wolvercote Farmers’ Market is open that morning from 10 – 1pm at the Primary School

AUTUMN WATER FESTIVAL
Earth Trust Centre, Little Wittenham, Abingdon, OX14 4QZ
A celebration of Autumn, harvest, water and wetland landscapes at the Earth Trust – lots of family fun!
Just a few of the activities confirmed so far…
- Sustainable water play (waterproofs and wellies are essential!)
- Mini raft making competition, using natural materials from the area
- Apple pressing
- Rushlight making
- Bug Man Adventure – go exploring on a spider and beetle walk
- Cricket Bat willows display
- Artist charcoal making and a charcoal graffiti board
- Pumpkin hunt
- Foraging walk and scavenger hunt
- Sensory soft play area
- River of Life display – photos showing how the project is progressing, plus artwork and poems from school projects
Didcot Fire Service will also be bringing a fire engine!
The Poem Tree Cafe will be open, plus there’ll be a hog roast from our Farm Step business Coopers Oxford Pork. There will also be live music from some of the members of local band Kismet, who are writing a special piece for the Festival.
Cost: Adults £5, Children £2, Family £12 (2 Adults, 2 Children)
This is event is part of our Introducing Water for Life project, supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.

APPLE WEEKEND AT WATERPERRY

Waterperry Gardens Garden Centre
Waterperry are well-known for their apples and this special weekend is the perfect celebration of our native fruit. Join free tours of the orchards and fruit sheds at 11.30am, 2pm and 3.30pm and taste numerous different apple and juice varieties. If you’re thinking of growing your own apple trees, this is a chance to try before you buy. Advice and information will be available too, along with the chance to get your own apples identified. There will be a free country food and craft fair in the glasshouse, an apple themed menu in the teashop, Miss H’s. And you are invited to ake part in an Apple Anagram Adventure!
