SCOODI – Give “Throw-away Culture” The Toss

March 25, 2008

Scoodi is a new initiative that gives you a free and easy way to get rid of your unwanted things and find items you need.  The Scoodi website promtoes sustainable living trhough reuse, recycling and reduction of landfill.

Scoodi is just launching in the UK.  As the first step in a launch we like to put a lot of emphasis on engaging with and talking to local community groups such as DRARA.  We find that talking to our potential users helps us to understand their needs.  It also helps to promote Scoodi in the community and together, identify opportunities for collaboration.

We use these community conversations to help us develop product features which best meet the needs of our users.  Fundamentally, Scoodi is a service provider with a set of tools which enable communities to work together.  Right now, that means helping local residents to find things they need and recycle/reuse the stuff they don’t need.  It could also mean providing a platform for local fundraising activities or supporting local cottage industry (for example).

We look forward to discussing priorites for the DRARA community and sharing our ideas.  We encourage you to sign up to Scoodi and let us know what you think.  You’ll find a link on the DRARA website.

A little bit about www.scoodi.com

Scoodi has a functional and easy to use design which makes it simple, fast and convenient for everyone to use.  Making a contribution to the environment and your community has never been easier.

Posting your things on the site with a full description and as many photos as you need, takes just a few minutes and best of all, it’s FREE.  Finding stuff is even easier and very flexible.  Search for stuff within walking distance of your house or widen the search to the county or the whole country.

Our innovative “act-local” technology delivers simple, uncluttered local content which makes it a breeze to find the things you need and give away the things you don’t

“Scoodi was born out of a desire to help communities make the best use of the reources they have around them, enabling them to live and work more sustainably and, in the process, achieve a greater sense of community” – Managing Direct, Richard Hobson

Scoodi enables communities to:
