Snowy times for DRARA
February 28, 2010
January 2010
It is cold and very beautiful. Lots of people are having fun sledging in South Parks and having days off work and school, but others may be stuck in doors and finding life a bit more difficult. If you know of anyone who is elderly, disabled or who simply might find getting out difficult, please visit or ring them to see if they are ok.
Shovelling snow off your own pathway and bit of pavement will make it easier for everyone.
Wear lots of layers of clothing and keep one room warm rather than putting up the heating in the whole house will save you very high heating bills at the end of the quarter.
The Accidents and Emergencies are extremely busy and some blood donors are unable to attend their appointments due to the snow. As we all live so near the JR2, if you have a free hour and are able to why not walk over to donate blood.
Ring 0300 123 23 23 to book an appointment.
Don’t drive unless you have to – and then take warm clothing, rugs, drinks and a shovel with you in case you get stuck. If you have a four by four, you might offer to help with social or health services or with neighbours.
And don’t forget to feed the birds – they are having a hard time of it too!
