Divinity Singers is a small friendly choir that rehearses on Monday evenings in Divinity Road. We give two main concerts a year (pre- Christmas at St Mary & St John church, and midsummer in Bartlemas Chapel) and two informal concerts in a local care home. We currently have vacancies for two basses and one alto. The programme for the Christmas concert consists of 12 traditional and modern carols. No auditions, but basic singing competence is desirable. Enquiries please to Wendy Davies: telephone 01865 248461; email firstname.lastname@example.org; or Glen Williams: 01865 727612; email email@example.com
Assisted Reading for Children in Oxfordshire (ARCh) is looking for volunteers in our area. An ARCh reading helper visits a local primary school twice a week, spending half an hour each with three children, selected by the school. The helper encourages the children to read more confidently and to enjoy books. The sessions are fun and always conclude with a game. The volunteer needs no special qualifications or experience but should be prepared to commit to regular attendance for a minimum of one year, in order to offer the children continuity and stability.
ARCh provides an excellent initial training as well as ongoing support, together with access to a rich resource of appropriate books and games and regular opportunities to meet other volunteers, exchange experiences and listen to talks by local authors and educationalists.
ARCh is a registered charity which trains and supports more than 240 volunteers working in over 100 Oxfordshire schools and helping more than 700 children every year.
But more volunteers are needed, especially in East Oxford primary schools. If you think you might be able to help, visit:

A (house?) key has been found (large, brass) on a small keyring together with a very small silver coloured key and a plastic name tag with no name on it. The keys were found on a wall outside no 96 Southfield Road and were delivered to us, at no 98, by someone who had picked them up. Please phone 01865 724436 if they are yours.
