Sinnet Court Residents – car policy

The following is a policy statement from the manager of Sinnet Court, the Oxford Brookes student accommodation midway up Southfield Road:

“It is a requirement that tenants of Sinnet Court do not bring a car to Oxford during the period of their tenancy.  We at Sinnet Court police the local area for suspected tenant cars daily.  We put windscreen stickers on cars that are believed to be owned by a tenant at Sinnet Court and we contact the DVLA for confirmation of ownership of the vehicle. Inevitably this is quite a lengthy/stringent process due to the Data Protection Act and we have found an alternate effective process to identify tenants that do have cars.

If residents of the local area wish to report a car they suspect to be owned by a Sinnet Court resident, the contact details are below. If anyone wishes to report a car, please have the following details to hand.

With the above information we can use our in house CCTV and key systems to identify the individual.  This method has proved to be a much quicker and more effective tool to identify tenants who are breaking a clause in their contracts.  The information above is also required in the event that we need to contact the DVLA.

Please be aware that Sinnet Court does not have any jurisdiction over any visitors and their cars.  Any information collated from the DVLA that isn’t relevant to Sinnet Court is destroyed immediately.

If a tenant at Sinnet Court is found to be using a car, they receive one warning and within that warning they are informed should they be identified again with a car they will be served with a notice to quit their accommodation.
